Black History: Artists’ Perspectives
The Second Annual “Black History: Artists’ Perspectives” exhibition opens at Hayti with a reception on Friday, February 3, 2017. The exhibition is sponsored by Mechanics & Farmers Bank and the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Last year seventeen artists from Durham and surrounding areas presented oil, acrylic, charcoal and metal pieces and quilts that represented their individual styles and their collective talents. Artists interacted with more than 200 guests and the public was able to purchase most of the beautiful pieces displayed. More than 7,000 individuals, school groups, tour groups and art lovers visited the exhibition.
New and returning artists will participate in this year’s exhibition, organized by Durham artist Willie Bigelow. The reception is open to the public. Refreshments and live entertainment will be featured.
