Hayti Project Update
In 2021 St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation received an award from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation to support the longevity of African American historic sites.
With support from the AACHAF, work began at the Hayti Heritage Center in July to restore the stained-glass windows, some of which had begun to buckle; to repair casings around the windows; and to replace the outer protective panels on the windows. We are thankful for the commitment made by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and for their support of the Hayti Heritage Center, a national historic treasure. We also thank Salem Glass for their work. Other restoration projects are planned to begin this year.
