Seeking audio submissions of original music and/or spoken word poetry

The African American Quilt Circle of Durham seeks audio submissions of original music and/or spoken word poetry for a special collaboration.

The submission will be used as the inspiration for an original art quilt. The quilter may interpret the selection based on feelings the piece evokes; a literal representation of the subject matter; or memories/thoughts inspired by the piece.

The artist and quilter maintain copyright of their respective work. Permission is granted to use the selection for marketing purposes.

The artist agrees to allow their work to be used in the creation of a multi‐media CD that will be sold by AAQC. The artist will receive 25% for each CD sold through their contacts.

The artist is asked to share a link on all their social media platforms to promote the exhibit opening and facilitate sales of the CD.

Artists are asked to read or perform a brief snippet from their work at the opening reception of the Ancestral Rhythms: A fusion of sight, sound, and soul exhibit on Friday, September 21, 2018. The quilter will speak to the genesis and inspiration of their work.

Submission guidelines: Please submit audio file and artist bio no later than Friday, February 2, 2018. Submissions should be sent to aaqc.submissions@gmail.com
