Hold Your Next Event at the Hayti Heritage Center

Hayti generates a large portion of its annual revenue through facility rentals. In addition to the historic Performance Hall, rentals of the upper and main galleries, the community room, two classrooms, a dance studio, and office space with board room access are available at market rates for non-profit and commercial use. The dance studio is rented monthly.

 

The monthly fee for office rentals includes utilities, housekeeping, parking and wireless access.
Completed rental agreements and security deposits are required in order to reserve space for an event.
Technical support is provided by Hayti’s Technical Director who contracts directly with clients.

Whatever your business, social, or leisure plans, the Hayti Heritage Center can fit all occasions. Conveniently located at the corner of Fayetteville Street and Lakewood Avenue in the historic Hayti District, the Center is available for rent for your community or private event.

A National Historic Landmark, the facility is situated just off the Durham Freeway, 5 minutes from downtown Durham, 10 minutes from Duke University and the Research Triangle Park, just blocks from N C Central University, and provides free parking for its clients.

Rental Information

Catering

Outside catering allowed. No cooking is permitted on site.

ABC Permits

ABC Permits are required for sale or distribution of alcohol during a facility rental.  Permits must be obtained through the ABC Commission and approved by the Center.

Insurance

Proof of insurance may be required by the Center as part of the facility rental agreement. Failure to show proof of insurance within 10 days of rental will rescind the rental agreement.

Cancellations

Cancellations must be in writing.  Deposits will be refunded with written cancellations no less than 10 days prior to events.  All contracts must be executed prior to rental date and deposits must be paid in order to execute contracts.  Payments in full must be paid prior to the event unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.  No personal checks accepted.

Deliveries of Rental Equipment

Any deliveries of rental equipment must be made between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday through Saturday.  A representative of the event must be present to accept delivery.  THE CENTER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR RENTAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER ITEMS LEFT FOLLOWING THE EVENT.  A diagram of the room set up(s) is required with the rental deposit.

Exhibitions

It is advised that anyone planning a rental inquire about current or planned exhibitions prior to scheduling an event.  EXHIBITIONS WILL NOT BE DISMANTLED, REMOVED OR COVERED for rental clients.

Additional Fees

A non-refundable reservation fee of $50 is required at the time of application in order to guarantee availability of the space(s), date(s) and time(s) requested.  A non-refundable fee of $100 is required at the time of application in order to guarantee availability of the Performance Hall for the date(s) and time(s) requested.  An additional refundable deposit is required for use of the Kitchen.

The Hayti Heritage Center is located at the corner of Fayetteville Street and Lakewood Avenue, only 2 minutes from downtown Durham,  blocks from North Carolina Central University, and just off of the Durham Freeway (Hwy. 147).
